His will, not mine

To preface these words I am sharing today I will start by saying they were originally written on June 11, 2022. I stumbled back upon them as I was going through a notebook in preparation for a group. They are musings that were put on my heart as I was in conversation with God that day. In one part I was seeking God’s will for my life to which He reminded me His will is more concerned with me following Him and being in relationship with Him then what job I have or what I do next. The second part was our conversation on helping others in their time of need.

Part one. Recently I have come to a realization about God’s will for my life (our lives). Sometimes we ask- in regard to events in our lives- for direction. “God is it your will I take this job?” “God is it your will I do such and such?”

I am seeing more and more that God’s will in our lives is to “Rejoice always, pray continually” 1 Thessalonians. To love God and Love people. Do all things for His glory. Ask ourselves “Does this glorify Him?” If the answer is no then don’t do it.

His will for each of us is to connect to Him in relationship- deep reverential relationship- deep connection. Worship and awe of Him.

Stop asking for blessing and His will and seek to actually live out the things He says His will is. Then see how things change. (In retrospect this was more to help me remember to focus on letting go of asking “What do you want me to do?” And to simply do the things He says in His word. Everything else will fall in place in His timing)

Part two Imagine for a moment that you are faced with someone who is going through exactly who’ve gone through in your life. What would you say to them? Would you hug them and let them know it will be ok? Would you cry with them? Let them be angry and grieve or simply be with them and let them feel whatever they may feel? Now picture them as you. You face to face with you. Hold yourself. Let yourself feel. Let yourself cry, be angry, grieve. Don’t try to “fix” anything just let the moment flow.

I suppose, in retrospect, God was reminding me in part two of how we can have so much compassion for other people that we forget to have that same compassion for ourselves. We dole out advice and hugs, yet hold them back from ourselves. Sometimes, many times, we simply need to grant ourselves that moment to rest in Him and feel whatever we may be feeling. We don’t have to dwell in those feelings. Breakthrough and transform is found in allowing yourself to feel- no holds barred. He will be with you through it and on the other side of walking through the “feels” He will embrace you as you move to the next step.

Heavenly Father- Thank you that You are who we can run to and who we can find our rest. Thank you that we don’t have to worry about what we should do as You tell us in Your word that Your will for us is to be in relationship with You. Thank you that, In Jesus, we can have true transformation in our lives. Lord, for anyone who is struggling with allowing themselves to feel and to move forward, I pray you give them your strength. That they embrace letting You see them through knowing You will hold them always. That they are not alone nor forsaken. I love you Father and it is in the precious name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

The will of God in Christ Jesus for you 💜
